From the 2013 Congregational Economic Impact Study, from the Lilly Family IU School of Philanthropy, presented to me by Aimee Laramore of Lake Institute on Faith & Giving:
Congregations in which clergy are actively aware of the giving trends within their congregation were more likely to see positive fundraising results between the first half of 2011 and the first half of 2012. In additions, congregations in which respondents reported that clergy are not aware of how much their congregation gives, or who gives, were less likely to report having an endowment than those whose clergy were aware of this information. (These are statistically significant results.)
