Memorial Day is about sacrifice and honor. It’s more than just the kick off of summer. It’s about more than shopping, picnics, and backyard barbecues.
Memorial Day is when the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered. We honor those who have protected our country, preserved our freedom, and helped make this country the great nation it is today.
On this day, many people visit cemeteries and memorials to honor those who have died in military service. Volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Take a few moments this Memorial Day to reflect and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives so we could be free.
