I receive updates and tax planning tips from my accounting firm, Dugan & Lopatka, CPAs. I thought their recent blog post, Tips on Year End Charitable Giving, was very relevant to our churches and their members.
The IRS has released its annual “Tips for Year-End Giving,” which gives guidelines for deductible contributions. The IRS also provides a searchable online database that lists many of the eligible charitable organizations. While churches, synagogues and other religious organizations are not listed in the database, they are considered eligible charitable organizations.

Best wishes for a safe and Merry Christmas!
