I am frequently asked about the success rates of the capital campaigns we help churches conduct. The success of a campaign can be difficult to measure and the definition of success can vary greatly.
In most cases, reaching a goal is relative to the best interests of the church. For some churches, we set minimum levels so the church feels the success, and we use the campaign as a future building block for Generosity. For other churches, we set the goal as high as possible to stretch and challenge a church that can deal with a minor shortfall. Even if the campaign doesn’t reach its goal, it is still viewed as a success if it motivates a church to come out of its “comfortable giving level.”
The best indicator of our ability to successfully guide the campaign process is that churches have repeatedly turned to CCS for campaign help since 1950. Although success is based on many factors, most churches with whom CCS has worked have reached their goals and increased their stewardship understanding.
